Well, you WERE beautiful

Folks, I’m sorry, but when you skin is orange, I think it’s time to get out of the sun.  Pick up video games or knitting or something that doesn’t require you to cook yourself.

First Tuesday, September 11th since…

…a tragedy which could have been averted.

There. I said it.

She’s always gone too long anytime she goes away.

So many miles between us. It doesn’t look that far away on the map, but the more I look around, the more I realize that you’re nowhere in sight. How could you be any farther away? If you were here, I wouldn’t hold your hand or stroke your hair or sing you a love song. I would just lay here and think about music. But now, the only music I hear is love songs. Songs about your soft skin. Songs about your soft hair. Your soft lips. Soft touch.  Soft…

This bed is so damn hard!

Meditate (on) this!

Ben Cartwright. That Ben Cartwright. What a wise man? Never harm a human being. Never lie. There is always a better way. Always calm, always collected, and always calculated, he always gives the benefit of the doubt and always speaks and acts with honesty. Truth and compassion was all he needed to make everything right with the world (or, at least, North-Eastern Nevada).

Now, don’t go getting the wrong idea, here. I understand that it was only a TV show. Real world problems are often not solvable within an hour simply by stumbling onto an answer in a saloon somewhere. Nor is there always a clear cut and obvious good and evil. Nor do we always have the means to accomplish everything that we need to accomplish.

But…we can try. The virtues of love (”the willing, sacrificial giving of one’s self for the benefit of another without thought of return”), joy (”gladness of the heart”), peace (”tranquility of the mind, freeing one from worry and fear”), patience (”[honest tolerance of] others, the opposite of a short temper, a disposition quietly bearing injury”), kindness (a gentle disposition), generosity (it is given to you that you may give it away), trustworthiness (”let your ‘yes’ mean ‘yes’ and your ‘no’ mean ‘no.’”), meekness (place yourself last in line), and self-control (”the ability to harness and control one’s passions and lusts”) can never steer you wrong. I will opt, for instance, to control myself in the face of anger over causing stress and strain for myself and all those around me by overreacting when I am wronged. I will opt to have a friend to talk to because he or she listens over having an enemy to fight with because he or she is narrow-minded toward something about which I am passionate. I will opt to give to those who need or want over consuming that which was so graciously given to me on fleeting desires.

Oh, yes. Ol’ Pa was quite a wise man. And if you want real, genuine, life-changing wisdom, I suggest you start here.
(”Ohm” has it’s place. This time, however, instead of emptying your mind, fill it. Now repeat after me…)

“Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, trustworthiness, meekness, and self-control.”

“Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, trustworthiness, meekness, and self-control.”

“Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, trustworthiness, meekness, and self-control.”

“Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, trustworthiness, meekness, and self-control.”

“Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, trustworthiness, meekness, and self-control.”

“Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, trustworthiness, meekness, and self-control.”

“Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, trustworthiness, meekness, and self-control.”

“Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, trustworthiness, meekness, and self-control.”

“Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, trustworthiness, meekness, and self-control.”

“Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, trustworthiness, meekness, and self-control.”
